Manor Park Skating Party A Wonderful Success!
February 8, 2010
Congratulations to Ali and Mark Newton, winners of the chili cook-off! Their vegetarian chili wowed the judges and earned them a gift basket courtesy of Chilly Chiles, the Chili Champ 2010 apron and their name forever engraved on the Chili Champ plaque. Watch our website and the March edition of the Manor Park Chronicle for a copy of his delicious recipe.
The winner of the draw was Sonia LeRoy, who won a gift basket courtesy of Chilly Chiles.
Many thanks to our sponsors, Chilly Chiles and Federal Service Experts.
Thanks to everyone who came to the annual skating party and enjoyed the chili, hot chocolate and other goodies while skating with friends and family. The weather may have been cold, but the music, skating, food and fun were hot! Be sure to join us next year for more fun!

Outdoor Skating Rink
January 16, 2010
Skaters are asked to respect all ‘Closed for Skating’ notices!
To protect the rink during winter thaws, skaters are asked to stay off of ice surfaces. Skating and hockey will resume when weather permits. Volunteers for rink maintenance can still assist by scraping the surfaces – and along the boards -- so that the ice is as smooth as possible when freezing temperatures return.
Supervisors:
When temperatures are above freezing, it is important to protect the ice surfaces.
- close the gates to the hockey rink
- post ‘Closed for Skating’ signs on the fieldhouse doors and rink gates
- Scrape ice surfaces and around the rink boards. This will have the ice in the best shape possible for the re-freeze.
- Call Lana Burpee if you have any questions!

Manor Park Skating Rink Maintenance Volunteers
January 15, 2010
Thanks and welcome to our dedicated rink supervisors this season, Ted Fadden, Alex Burpee, Mat Smith, Wes MacDonald-Nixon, and Andre Nicol.
Watch for the red hockey jersey! That’s how you will identify the Rink Supervisor on duty. Supervised skating, which means the change rooms are open for use, from 10:00am-2:00pm on weekends.
This season we welcome a group of local young men to the Rink Supervisor duties: Ted Fadden, Alex Burpee, Wes MacDonald-Nixon, Mat Smith and Andre Nicol. They will be counting on all rink maintenance volunteers to help with scraping and flooding the rinks. The help of rink volunteers is especially welcomed when the weather conditions (ice, melt, snowfall) mean that the rink needs extra work.
Thank you for volunteering to help clear and maintain the ice!
Skaters and volunteers please note that this schedule is subject to change when weather conditions warrant.
Volunteers are asked to check the schedule for their date to help with rink maintenance. In the event of a conflict, please arrange for a replacement.
