The Setting
The After 3 (A3) program is MPCC’s after-school enrichment program for children in grades 1-4, offering a fun and engaging alternative to traditional after-school care, located at 100 Thornwood Road.
Each day gives children the opportunity to explore new interests while spending time with friends in a supportive environment.
A3 enjoys exclusive use of the Manor Park Community Centre, splash pad, play structure, and surrounding park during programming hours, giving children plenty of space to unwind, play, explore, and connect with friends, both indoors and out. Children can take advantage of free time to burn off extra energy or retreat for a quiet moment to complete homework.
A3 is open to children from all neighbourhood schools.
What to Expect
A Typical Day
- Children from all community schools can attend
- Those at Manor Park Public School will be picked up from the school. Those arriving by bus will be met by MPCC staff
- The Manor Park Community Centre shares the green space & property with Manor Park Public School
- Each day balances free play with themed activities, individual and group enrichment time, indoor and outdoor play, with a mix of arts, sports, and STEM
- Homework time available for children who want it

Pickup
Parents pick up children at the Manor Park Community Centre 100 Thornwood Road.
Children must be picked up by 6:00 PM. Late pickup fees may apply.
Registration
A3 registration opens in March for the following school year. The program is popular and spots fill quickly — we encourage families to register early.

Monthly payment via Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) is required.
Payments are processed on the 20th of each month.
FAQ
What is the difference between A3 and BAS?
A3 is a recreational after-school program for children ages 4-10 that focuses on enrichment, creativity, and skill-building in a fun and social environment. Children participate in organized activities such as sports, arts and crafts, dance, coding, cooking, music, and STEM, while also having time for free play and socializing. A3 takes place at the Manor Park Community Centre and uses community spaces such as the school gym, splash pad, skating rink, green space, and play structures. The program also welcomes specialized instructors throughout the year and offers flexible drop-in options.
BAS is a licensed child care program held inside Manor Park Public School. Registered Early Childhood Educators and experienced Child Care Assistants offer programming based on the children’s interests. BAS has less flexible options for registration; however, they do accept City of Ottawa Fee Subsidies and are part of the Canada Wide Child Care and Early Learning Program. BAS accepts children in JK-Grade 6.
BAS offers Before and Aftercare options, whereas A3 offers Aftercare only.
My child is 3 years old, but is in JK. Can they still sign up?
No. Children age 3 and in JK should register for the Before & After Care program. Children must be 4 years old on their first day attending A3, even if they are currently enrolled in JK. However, feel free to connect with us over email, and we can ensure your child is registered and ready to begin the program as soon as they are able.
Does my child have to attend Manor Park Public School in order to attend A3?
We accept children from a variety of schools to this community-based program. Please note that we follow the OCDSB calendar. Travel arrangements both to and from the program are the responsibility of the parents/guardians.
Must my child attend full-time?
We offer full-time (5 days), part-time (3 days), and drop-in options! Parents must select their days of the week at the time of registration, and days must remain consistent each week. Changes to days can only be made if space permits; fees may apply. Drop-in spaces are dependent on our daily ratios and may not be offered on certain days.
Do you offer fee subsidies?
Financial support is available through the generous donations of residents to The Opportunity Fund. The MPCC operates and manages The Opportunity Fund to support young (and old!) who face financial barriers to participating in a recreational program. Is there programming in the summer?
Families wishing to attend the full-day program during the summer (July & August), must register in advance and separately for our very popular Summer Day Camp in Manor Park! Registration is online and on a first come, first served basis. Children ages 4 – 10 are accepted.

Do you operate on OCDSB PA Days?
We are excited to offer our new A3 PA Days program! These themed, full-day programs offer quality programming to deliver unique experiences to participants. Children will enjoy curated activities, games, crafts, pizza lunch, and play both indoors and outdoors all year round.
What does the daily schedule look like?
We foster freedom of choice in the A3 program to help build autonomy and encourage children to explore their interests. At 3:00, we begin our program with outdoor play, year-round in all types of weather. We provide 2 or 3 options for children, including the use of specialized sports equipment, multiple play structures, and nature-based materials. At 4:00, we offer participation in our daily programmed activity, which is always the most popular and anticipated part of the program! Children continue to have the option to free-play during this time as well. At 5:00, children typically spend time in our beloved A3 room, where they have access to toys, games, dramatic play, and more.
What should my child bring to A3 each day?
Each child should bring a healthy snack – nut and peanut-free, please! — plus indoor shoes, a water bottle, and weather-appropriate clothing for outdoor play. Please ensure all items are labeled with your child’s name.
