Feeding Birds | Plants that Attract Birds

The following birds have been reliably reported in Manor Park. Those with an * constitute the original listing on this website as reported by Marion and Bob Bennett who observed them, since 1974, without leaving the boundaries of their home at 2 Braemar St.. David Collyer confirms seeing most of these birds in the immediate vicinity of his home on Farnham Cres. and in his wanderings around the area west of the Aviation Parkway. He has augmented the list with the entries marked with #

For those interested in identifying the birds of the area, the Bennetts have found two books particularly helpful because they show the picture and a description of the birds habits and habitat on the same page and are a handy size:
- The ROM Field Guide to the Birds of Ontario
- Birds of North America, Golden Field Guide Series

The Canadian classic bird book is The Birds of Canada by W. Earl Godfrey, formerly with the National Museum of Canada (now The Canadian Museum of Nature).

There have been recent changes in the names given to some birds. To the extent that these are now used in the above references, both the newer and (older) names are shown.

Any person, in the area served by the Manor Park Chronicle, who has observed, or observes, another species within the area described below is requested to report that to the Bennetts or the current webmaster at info@manorpark.ca

The area for observation is shown, in beige, on the map of Manor Park on this website, plus the Mile Circle. When reporting, please state where the bird was sighted.
