Habitat & Species

Our backyard habitats consist of a variety of trees and shrubbery that maintain a suitable environment for our wildlife to seek protection from such variables including weather and enemies. These environments also include sources of food in the forms of insects and seeds. Other areas within our region such as the pond, McKay Lake and The Ottawa River, possess suitable habitat for Birds, Animals and Amphibians.

Examples of each are as follows:
BIRDS- Waterfowl, Ducks, Geese, Songbirds, Waterbirds, Herons, Gulls
ANIMALS - Cotton Tail Rabbit, Groundhogs, Squirrels, Beavers, Muskrats, Raccoons, Skunks
AMPHIBIANS - Salamanders, Frogs and Toads
INSECTS - Butterflies, Moths, Dragonflies
REPTILES - Turtles, Lizards, Snakes
