Letter from the MPCA President to Mr. Jacques Legendre, City Councilor

Dear Jacques:
On behalf of the MPCA and the ad hoc Karen Way group, I am writing to give you an update on the open house Community meeting that was held last night [discuss further the Richcraft proposal for Karen Way.
There was a very large(well over 100) and impassioned crowd who listened to an extremely well presented overview of the background and issues related to the potential development. After the excellent 40 minute presentation by the volunteer committee, questions and answers were heard from the gathered group. A summary of the meeting is being written up and will be sent to you soon, but I wanted to share with you the deep concerns raised by the members of the community about the specific development being planned which all of us believe could set a precedent and trend for future developments in our area.
At the end of the meeting a vote was taken and the vast majority of those present(and I am sure the rest of the community) believe that the zoning for this area should note exceed 3 stories and that all development should be very carefully integrated into the surrounding environment which is overwhelmingly small scale residential.
We are very aware that Richcraft is now in the process of re-sizing their proposal but there is strong suspicion that whatever they come up with will still be a very large(likely 11 stories) monolith that we feel is totally unacceptable for the area.
We would welcome a meeting with you at any time to discuss more fully the concerns and issues raised during this meeting and seek your support and guidance on this very important issue for our community.
Best Regards,
David Goldfield
President
