Chair Message
The first full week of May saw the beginning of our spring programs. Isn’t it lovely to see the park swell with so many people? Manor Park Community Council is pleased to be part of the new Ottawa Spring Football League. My husband and I will be watching our son play football for the first time in his life. I’m alternatively anxious and excited for our lad and his friends.
Summer camps are quickly filling up. Our Muggles camp returns again this year (a proverbial favourite) for the 3 - 5 year olds. New this year is a Strategy Games camp for 10 - 12 year olds. Please check out our varied camp selections in the Chronicle or on this website.
Throughout our extended winter, MPCC has made improvements to the Fieldhouse. We now offer cubbies for our program participants and we put in a dishwasher to not only aid in the cleanup of dishes but also for the sterilization of small toys. A child- size toilet was installed based upon the recommendation of staff.
We are looking forward to September 6th when we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Fieldhouse. Please watch for notices outlining our event activities. We have hired a company to help with the landscaping directly around the parameter of the Fieldhouse. We aim to have an improved green space by the time September 6th rolls around.
In the near future we will begin working with the City of Ottawa to refit our play structure. We are adding some motion toys (seesaws). I hope you like the changes we have made both inside and outside of the Fieldhouse.
Our AGM was held on April 24th. Changes have been made to our slate of Executive Board positions. I am thrilled to announce and would like to thank Tammy Moffatt for coming forward to become my Co-Chair. Tammy and I have worked together for the past two years and she is a dynamo. Andrea Poole graciously agreed to wear the Treasurer’s hat - AGAIN. My sincere thanks to Andrea for sharing her extensive knowledge of the neighbourhood with the Board. Andra Waterfield has taken on the role of secretary.
I hope you and your family have a terrific summer.
Penny Thompson,
MPCC Chair
