FAQ: After Three in Manor Park (A3)
Q:  Why should I choose this program?
A:  The MPCC is a not-for-profit organization serving the community for over 35 years! We have decades of experience and are committed to offering top-quality programming and recreational activities to children and families. We are a trusted resource in our community and highly respected. The staff at the A3 program are caring, qualified and enthusiastic. They bring experience and creativity to their program planning and are ready to get to know each child and their interests! Children will enjoy structured programming, special guests, recreational activities (coding, music, sports, cooking, arts, STEM, dance, etc) and more! The community center, is also a wonderful community space, surrounded by green fields, play structures, old growth trees, splash pad, tennis courts - and more! Its a great place to be all year round! Our indoor space is newly furnished with pops of colour and has been planned out to offer various choices and stations for play.

Q:  Does my child have to attend Manor Park Public School in order to register?
A:  We accept children from a variety of schools to this community-based program. Please note that we follow the OCDSB calendar. Travel arrangements both to and from the program are the responsibility of the parents/guardians.

Q:  What grades do you accept?
A:  We accept children in grades 1 – 4

Q:  Must my child attend full-time?
A:  We offer full-time and part-time options (either 5 days per week or 3 days per week). Parents must select their days of the week at time of registration. Days must be consistent each week/month. Changes to days can only be made is space permits, fees may apply.

Q:  Do you offer fee subsidies?
A:  Fee subsidy through the City of Ottawa is only available in licensed childcare programs – like our own Before- and After-School in Manor Park. Interested families should email us at BAS@manorpark.ca. However, financial support is available through the generous donations of residents to The Opportunity Fund. The MPCC operates and manages The Opportunity Fund to support young (and old!) who face financial barriers to participating in a recreational program. Interested families should email us at ssear@manorpark.ca.

Q:  Is there programming in the summer?
A: Families wishing to attend full-day during the summer (July & August), must register in advance and separately for our very popular Summer Day Camps in Manor Park! Registration is online and on a first come, first served basis. Children ages 4 – 10 are accepted. Register early – these camps are known to sell out!

Q:  What about OCDSB PA Days?
A:  A3 does not operate on OCDSB PA Days. MPCC's licensed Before- and After-School in Manor Park program offers PA Day programming to those who register separately and in advance. This program will run at Manor Park School, is offered only on OCDSB PA Days, and only when there is sufficient interest from families.

Q:  How do I pay fees?
A:  Families pay a non-refundable registration fee when they sign their child up using our secure online registration system, Amilia SmartRec. After that, fees are withdrawn automatically from your bank via a Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD).  Easy, safe, and reliable!

Q:  What should my child bring / not bring to A3 each day?
A:  Each child should bring a healthy snack - nut and peanut free, please! -- plus indoor shoes, water bottle and weather appropriate clothing for playing outside. Children should not bring valuables, peanuts/nuts, or inappropriate objects. All items are required to be labeled with your child’s name.

Q: How is this program different from Before- and After-School in Manor Park?
A: A3 is a monthly recurring, recreational children’s program and takes place at the Manor Park Community Center, 100 Thornwood Road. It places a focus on the incorporation of recreational activities between 3 – 6PM, welcomes special guest instructors, and specialized clubs and activities.

Dungeons & Dragons

Dungeons & Dragons Online

Join the MPCC for a new season of Dungeons and Dragons Online! Become a player in the world's most popular table top role-playing game. In D&D, players take on the role of a fantasy themed character within an adventuring party of up to 7 characters. The party will work together to overcome various physical and mental obstacles introduced to them by the storyteller. Players will be required to go on a weekly adventure cultivating their creativity, teamwork, decision-making, commitment, and character development skills.

D&D is typically played at a table. We will play on a virtual table top, that will allow players to have a similarly immersive experience. So, join our resident Dungeon Master and see if you have what it takes to be the hero in your own story!

Our first “class” will be a “session zero” when Dungeon Master Doug will open up with some rules, general info and how the campaign will work. So please know that there may not be a full two hours of game play on the first “class”.

About your DM: Doug Coughler is a published RPG author who has been playing tabletop role playing games for nearly 40 years. He brings to the table several years of running games both in-person and online, and a background in theatre to help bring life to the game.
